Lower Back Pain Treatment in Singapore

Lower back pain is common but treatable. At Calyx, we offer specialised physiotherapy for women to relieve pain, restore movement, and build confidence. We assess your spine, core, and pelvic floor to find the root cause and support your long-term recovery. If you are pregnant and looking for lower back pain treatment during pregnancy: click here. If you have given birth and want to know more about postpartum lower back pain: read this.

What Is Lower Back Pain Treatment?

At Calyx, treatment begins with a full-body assessment to uncover what’s driving your pain. Using a combination of manual therapy, movement strategies, and postural retraining, we create a care plan that’s safe, effective, and responsive to your lifestyle and goals.

Is This Safe for Me?

Yes. Our treatments are non-invasive, research-backed, and tailored specifically to your stage of life and underlying health conditions. We always conduct a detailed assessment before recommending any treatment approach.

Who Should Consider Lower Back Pain Treatment?

If you are experiencing persistent back pain, limited movement, or tension from poor posture, physiotherapy may help. At Calyx, we support women through all stages of back pain, from sudden flare ups to ongoing discomfort and long term management.

  • Do I Need a Referral?

No referral is needed. You can book directly with us online or over the phone. If required, we’ll liaise with your GP or specialist.

  • Are There Any Conditions That May Prevent Me from Getting Treatment?

Some conditions may need medical clearance first. If we spot any concerns during assessment, we’ll guide you. If you cannot visit the clinic, we offer tele-consultations to assess symptoms, offer early care, and advise on next steps.

Symptoms and Signs You May Benefit from Lower Back Pain Treatment

Common signs include:

  • Persistent Localised Pain
  • Pain That Radiates into the Hips or Legs
  • Difficulty Bending, Twisting, or Standing
  • Pain That Increases After Sitting or Standing Too Long
  • Pain Affecting Your Daily Activities

These symptoms may be linked to postural changes, muscle imbalances, pelvic floor dysfunction, or spinal misalignment. They can also reflect underlying conditions such as pregnancy-related strain, postpartum recovery, or hormonal changes during perimenopause.

What Happens During Your Calyx Session?

Your session will include a full assessment, targeted treatment, movement guidance, and a clear plan to support ongoing recovery.

  • Will There Be an Internal or External Assessment?

We begin with external assessment. If pelvic floor issues are suspected, an internal exam may be recommended with your consent. Your comfort and choice are always respected.

  • Do I Need to Prepare or Bring Anything?

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows movement. Any previous scans or reports will also be helpful.

  • What Happens After the Session?

You’ll receive a personalised plan that may include exercises, lifestyle advice, and follow-up session recommendations.

  • Can I Do My First Session via Telehealth?

Yes, we offer tele-rehabilitation as an option, especially for your first session. During a tele-consult, we complete a detailed subjective assessment, address your concerns, and provide early guidance for symptom relief and self-care. We may also ask you to observe certain patterns or collect data (e.g. symptom tracking, posture habits) to better inform your care.

Telehealth also helps us triage effectively, and if we identify the need for a hands-on physical assessment or in-clinic treatment, we’ll recommend an in-person visit. In some cases, if your condition is suitable, we can continue with a full physiotherapy plan remotely.

Techniques and Tools We May Use

  • Manual Therapy (Joint Mobilisation / Myofascial Release)
  • Clinical Pilates-based Rehabilitation
  • Dry Needling
  • Postural and Ergonomic Advice
  • Real-Time Ultrasound for Biofeedback
  • Exercise Prescription
  • Electrophysical Agents (e.g. Ultrasound, Thecar, TENs)
  • Is It Painful or Uncomfortable?

Most patients feel relief, not pain. Some techniques may cause brief discomfort or soreness, but only with your consent. Our physiotherapists explain each step and prepare you for what to expect, including advice for managing any post-treatment soreness.

  • How We Ensure Safety in Each Method

We use evidence-based techniques tailored to your needs. Our AHPC-registered physiotherapists stay current with ongoing training to ensure safe and personalised care.

Your Progress and Results Over Time

  • How Soon Will I See Improvement?

Improvement varies based on symptoms, treatment response, and exercise consistency. After assessment, your physiotherapist will outline a realistic timeline and set clear expectations for progress.

  • How Often Will I Need Sessions?

Treatment usually starts with 1 to 2 sessions per week. Duration varies by condition and response. We tailor frequency to your needs, balancing hands-on care and self-management to find the best approach for you.

  • Will I Need Maintenance Visits?

After recovery, our goal is for you to manage your back health independently. We’re here whenever you need support. For women who are pain-free, we offer preventive care through one-to-one sessions or our Recalibrate By Calyx programme to optimise posture, movement, and strength.

  • What Do I Need to Do at Home?

You’ll be given a customised home programme with self-management and pain-relief strategies, stretches and strengthening exercises.

  • Will My Condition Be Completely Cured?

Recovery varies by condition. Acute issues often resolve quickly, while chronic pain may need ongoing management. We focus on steady progress, building resilience, and improving function to support your long-term wellbeing.

  • Can I Continue My Sessions Through Telehealth?

Yes, tele-rehabilitation is available for ongoing care. Your physiotherapist will support your progress, update exercises, and monitor symptoms remotely for your convenience.

CHLOE NG
Co-founder, Senior Physiotherapist

Chloe is a dedicated women’s health physiotherapist whose personal and professional journey has shaped her compassionate approach to care. Early in her career, she noticed that many women’s health concerns, including incontinence, painful intercourse and fertility challenges, were often dismissed or left unspoken. This sparked her commitment to specialise in pelvic health and provide women with the support they deserve.

She pursued training in pelvic health assessment and management, and integrates Polestar Pilates principles into her practice to restore functional movement, postural alignment, and overall wellbeing.

Her personal decision to go through two unmedicated births reinforced her belief in the power of education, preparation, and informed support during pregnancy and beyond.
